My main area of research interest is in women’s reproductive autonomy, but I am also doing some work on the ethical issues of Gene Drive Technology for the eradication of malaria in the West African Region. I have vast experience in qualitative research ethics methods, as well as in descriptive, content, narrative, and the use of MAXQDA 11 for qualitative data analysis. I am also open and quick to learn new research methods. I work with the National Biotechnology Development Agency in Abuja, Nigeria. At the Agency, I have the mandate of my government to establish the National Bioethics Committee (NBC) which will be holistic, pluralistic and multidisciplinary. A Committee of this kind will not only serve to advise the government and policy makers on ethical issues as they arise, but will ensure the protection, dignity, welfare, rights, safety and well-being of Nigerians.ACHIEVEMENTS • In February, 2020, I was elected the Pioneer Anglophone Rapporteur for the First African Regional Bioethics Conference to represent Africa at the 13th Global Bioethics Summit in Lisbon, Portugal • In 2019, as the Focal Officer for the Nigeria-UNESCO Bioethics, I successfully against all odds organized the Nigerian National Bioethics Stakeholders’ Meeting for the drafting of the Nigerian National Bioethics Framework and Policy for the establishment of a Nigerian National Bioethics Committee • In 2019, I successfully coordinated the development of the Nigerian National Bioethics Documents • In 2019 I was made the Vice President of the Ethics Technical Working Group for the West Africa - Integrated Vector management Programme (WA-IVM) for the eradication of malaria using Gene Drive Technology.
