Linked into mobile incident commanders and command suite activities. Involving both scheduled and progression training of all personnel and the conduct and welfare of all training managers and driver training instructors. Responsible for the identification of training need, production, co-ordination, implementation, delivery, evaluation, review and standards of all operational courses provided.Frequent planning, work stream management and comprehensive database and reporting mechanisms to ensure efficiencies.Also responsible for managing budgets effectively and project managing several major Service projects for the Service involving significant capital expenditure.Aware of Political climate and constraints. I also chaired many multi agency meetings.Responsible for cluster exercise programme carried out under the jurisdiction of the training department throughout the service and acted as Exercise Director to ensure correct operational procedures and standards were maintained.Managed the development of Service training matrix and provided leadership and direction to all instructional staff to fulfil regulation and policy and procedures and competencies.Ensured consistency of training documentation across all service courses and maintain updated records.Provided specific training needs identified by the wider workplace to fulfil their needs and ensure assessment and review.Operated as a direct interface with many external partners, programmed, arrange and chaired many meetings both internal and external to meet the needs of the department and Service to achieve outcomes. - Awarded to Paul MacGugan MIFireE, Tech IOSH'Appreciation Award' for attendance at the 'Buncefield Oil Storage Depot Disaster' Herfordshire Fire and Rescue Service & Buncefield Mayor Dec 2005 The 'Buncefield Oil Refinery Fire' was an oil storage depot fire, it was the largest fire recorded in peacetime Europe. The Buncefield blast on 11 December 2005 had a magnitude of 2.5. A vapour cloud from 250,000 litres of petrol ignited, the explosion could be heard 125 miles away injuring 43 people and destroyed many homes and businesses. I was the only Flexible duty Officer dispatched to this incident from CFRS who managed operations.
