  FabLab Volunteer in Science and Technology Teaching

  This is a program where by Engineering students from the University of Nairobi volunteer to go out into various schools and children's' clubs, like FunKids Kenya. Through this program, we aim to inspire the children to take interest in science and to challenge their way of thinking. We teach them basic robotics using the Pico Cricket Kit. With time we improved this concept to coming up with simple innovations using available materials so as to have fun with technical experiments. These innovations include, motors, gyrator, simple electric generator, l.e.d lights, magnetic driven boats, maglev trains, dancing robots, model of a laser security system and an intruder alert detector. We also learnt how to interpret these complicated terminologies into simple terms that the children could understand and apply to their everyday lives.
