      Mechanical Engineer - Contract

Baymar Engineering is an engineering firm focusing on product development solutions, primarily serving highly regulated industries such as medical device, defense, and aerospace industries.Primarily worked on the design transfer of an automated tissue stainer. Work involved design changes to parts to increase manufacturability and decrease cost, while also designing for assembly (DFM & DFA). Made drawings of parts to be sent to the manufacturer (dimensioned using GD&T under ASME Y14.5), as well as designed and defined their packaging. Worked extensively on the creation of Manufacturing Work Instructions defining the assembly process, methods, and specifications for the tissue stainer. • Part re-design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM & DFA)• Created part drawings using GD&T (ASMEY14.5)• Designed and defined supplier packaging.• Designed Layout and routing of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic tubing through the machine. Manufacturing Engineer

Responsible for coordinating, designing, and maintaining the manufacturing processes of products. This includes design transfer from R&D to Manufacturing, designing manufacturing processes, tooling and process creation and validation, and authoring of all documentation from Manufacturing Work Instructions to Device History Records (DHR). Managed new and existing manufacturing lines, improving process repeatability and reducing TAKT times and material waste through implementation of lean principles. All work performed and efforts undertaken based on ISO 9001:2008, Current Good Manufacturing Practices per 21CFR820, and ISO 13485 quality management system / regulatory requirements. • Process Creation, Verification/Validation and Process Improvement – Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) creation, as well as process improvements through implementation of lean principles. • Material and Work Flow optimization through Lean initiatives, using tools and techniques such as time studies and spaghetti diagrams.• Tooling and Fixture Design and Validation – Jigs, Fixtures, Semi-automated assembly; Includes creation of Equipment Drawings, Equipment Specifications, and IQ OQ & PQ creation and execution.• Knowledgeable on manufacturing processes including Laser Welding, Fiber Optics termination and polishing, Machining – both manual and CNC, Swaging, Forming, Crimping, etc.• As Process Owner, a member of the Material Review Board, as well as in charge of the disposition of non-conforming material, complaint investigations, and supplier investigations and audits. May 2014 - now

Headed design projects all the way from meeting with prospective customers through to setting up manufacturing of a finished product. Designed, manufactured, tested, implemented and documented several fully automated and semi-automated machines used to fill, bond, and assemble liquid filled capsules.Worked with Medical Professionals and Business Owners to develop novel surgical aides as well as wearable health monitors for assisted living facilities. Years of experience in various manufacturing methods helped to design for manufacturability ( DFM ) and cost-efficiency, while also maximizing the durability and quality of the finished product.Worked with customers in the Defense and Aerospace industry to develop lockouts for explosive batteries as well as more rigorous testing and qualification methodologies for aerospace parts. Worked with customers in the medical instrument industry to develop high-accuracy calibration tools and processes as well as redesigning optical lens focus systems for faster speed and higher accuracy.
