  As assistant professor in the field of media and communication, I taught courses about media theory, the media industries and globalisation. I taught and coordinated both small-scale tutorials as well as lectures for 300 students. I worked on the following research projects:1) Online urban heritage: how do participatory media change people’s engagement with the urban past?2) The places of live music: what is the impact of live music on cities?3) Popular music heritage and nostalgia: how does popular music’s past support collective identities?As part of these projects I (co)-organised several workshops and conferences in collaboration with external partners.I was academic coordinator of the Premaster Media Studies and course coordinatator of Media Industries and Audiences, Media and Communication Theory, and Media, Culture and Globalisation Show less

  Senior Policy Advisor

  Until 2023, the Rotterdam Council for Art and Culture (Rotterdamse Raad voor Kunst en Cultuur, RRKC) gave policy advice to the municipality of Rotterdam on arts and culture. I coordinated a project about the impact of gentrification and densification on cultural real estate in Rotterdam.

  For Platform31 I have worked on a wide range of projects focused on, among other things, livability, housing and urban redevelopment. This includes research activtities and the organisation of various conferences and knowledge exchange events.Platform31 is a Dutch knowledge and network organisation that mostly operates on national, regional, and local levels – and collaborations between those. It brings together public officials, policymakers, professionals, citizens and businesses to find solutions to complex urban and regional issues. Our aim is to build an inclusive and sustainable society with affordable homes in suitable environments, innovative governance and an economy that supports a good quality of life.We organize events and the exchange of knowledge, practices and lessons learned. And we produce publications, research reports, guidelines and tools. By connecting research, policymaking and daily practice we provide network partners with valuable feedback for shaping futureproof policies, strategies, regulations, approaches and solutions.
