  During my last semester at Cal, I had the opportunity to shadow Beth Tafolla-Voetsch, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief Development Officer, and her team at the Cal Athletics Fund. This opportunity enabled me to integrate seamlessly into brainstorming sessions, UCBF Trustees Zoom Calls, and 125th Big Game (Cal vs Stanford) Meetings, highlighting the intersection of collegiate level sports with finance, marketing, and various social issues. Specifically, the 125th Big Game Group Sessions gave me the space to express ideas and receive feedback regarding university engagement, donor relations and weekend packages, game time events, partnerships, and NFT memorabilia. Through these meetings I learned the power of collaboration and compromise, leading to successful relationships both internally and with our rivals, where ideas flowed and deliverables were met.   Croatia- On the ranch I had the opportunity to organize, communicate, and execute day-to-day farm tasks. Such duties include taking care of animals (dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, horses) and garden, leading horseback riding tours, greeting campers and managing their facilities, organizing ranch finances, and completing projects. This experience enabled me to meet adventure spirited individuals from around the world leading to new perspectives and lifelong connections.Finland- Located in the dense woodlands of Finland, I had the opportunity to work on a organic farm with goats, horses, turkeys, and dogs. Duties each day included milking and feeding the goats, caring for the horses and turkeys, cleaning up the property, and making local cuisine from farm products. The language barrier and family dynamics encouraged me to look at the world through a different lens, refining my goals and career aspirations. Stepping outside my comfort zone, I was able to help a family in need. This experience positively impacted not just their lives for years, but mine as well.Vashon Island- My time in Washington was spent learning and teaching primary education, regenerative agriculture, and helping out with ranch duties. Focusing on building foundations for our youth, I taught what it means to support local farmers and businesses, fight for social justice, and pioneer ways for a sustainable future. Teaching in an outdoor setting, students were able to feel confident and creative while supporting others through honest communication, gardening, and sharing meals. My time at the school and ranch has given me the push to take my degree and passions to the next level. Show less
