      As the Geo-spatial data manager at BCP I was charged with managing the geo-spatial data associated with each of our REDD+ project sites. I undertook all of the GIS and Remote Sensing analyses and contribute to the writing of project description documents. I also developed and managed our digital data collection system using a combination of ODK and a Google app spot.

      FAO is currently supporting the development of a National Forest Monitoring System (NFMS) and the implementation of a measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) system for REDD+ in the Republic of Liberia. The project focuses on the implementation and development of a national forest inventory (NFI), a satellite land monitoring system (SLMS), the development and submission of a Forest Reference Emission Level or Forest Reference Level (FREL/FRL) to the UNFCCC, as well as strengthening of national government institutions and the institutionalization of MRV system. As Chief Technical Advisor I facilitate and implement these activities.More specifically, I undertake the following:- Manage, monitor and coordinate all project activities in cooperation with the Forestry Development Authority and the REDD+ Implementation Unit- Prepare work plans and budgets and facilitates reporting to both the donor and the implementation partner (FDA)- Develop and implement a capacity development program aligned with the needs of the country as well as the project goals (NFI, Satellite Land Monitoring System)- Linked to the capacity development program, coordinate data processing activities associated with both the NFI and the SLMS- Facilitate consultation with partner organisations as well as stakeholders on key matters relating to the Forest Reference Emission Level and the NFI.- Oversee the implementation of activities related to the development of FRELs/FRLs Show less As a consultant I worked within the National Forest Monitoring Team of the REDD+ cluster to provide comprehensive technical expertise to support the planning, development and implementation of national forest monitoring projects, products and services in accordance with Departmental objectives and FAO strategic objectives.More specifically, I undertook the following:- Support implementation and technical delivery of field projects related to national forest monitoring, in particular respond to country requests for technical assistance; provide technical advice, assistance and solutions to countries; and provide technical backstopping to forest monitoring projects.- Contribute to national forest monitoring project proposal development and resources mobilization activities, in collaboration with country and regional offices, for the following countries, Angola, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Iran, Zambia, and Liberia.- Support national forest monitoring normative activities- Support for the development of SEPAL training materials with special reference to applications of ForestReference Emissions Level development- Support the integration of geospatial socio-economic data into Open Foris for creating project baselines and to enable monitoring. Support a pilot of the methodology in Zambia. Show less As the chief technical advisor I provide technical assistance and support to the Ministry of Lands in the areas of capacity building, institutional strengthening, planning and implementation of the Support to Phase II of Integrated Land Use Assessment (ILUA) in Zambia. The position involves planning, coordinating and supervising the implementation of all project components, outputs and activities as well as the preparation of annual work plans, budgets, and reports. The position is closely linked to the UNREDD+ program in Zambia. Technical support is also provided to the Forestry Department on the processing of the Forest Inventory data using open source tools developed by FAO, which includes a capacity development component.
