  Senior Network Planner and Switch Manager

  I originally joined Clariti as a Network Planner, as the company was becoming a Fixed Switch operator, in which role I Project Managed the Rollout of the Network. I was responsible for sourcing suppliers of Fibre, equipment and existing Networks, agreeing contracts and Service Level Agreements which were approved by the Technical Director, to implementation of the Project Plan. I was also the British Telecom interface, I applied for and implemented the company number ranges, and managed the network deployment.I also received training in Switch Operations and Management of a Nokia DX220 Switch, and managed the switch floor. I was involved in programming the network connections, in various signalling protocols, including SS7 and Q931. I was also responsible for testing and commissioning the connections, implementing and providing various telecoms services. Protocol analysis, fault finding and rectification. I managed the Network and Switch teams, and set up and organised training for the teams. This was an important experience in developing a deeper understanding of Network and Infrastructure, and gaining significant technical knowledge. Show less

  Network Augmentation Engineer

  I joined in the Voice Engineering division to work with the Product Development team on the Lucent Softswitch Project. Level 3 were developing a Softswitch for the European market. They needed an engineer with European Telecoms experience to help in the changes to the Softswitch for the European market. In my role I was to be the interface between Engineering and Product Development in developing the Voice elements of the Softswitch.

  Project Manager and Electrical/Telecoms Engineer

  I have been an Independent Contractor providing both technical and Project Management services in Data, Telecommunications, Power systems and Renewable Energy. My experiences include providing both Project Management and Consultancy services. I have managed low level projects installing Electrical Systems, to project managing Europe wide fibre networks. Working mainly in infrastructure projects, I have also managed Renewable Energy installations.I have contracted to companies such as Ipsaris a Marconi company, now part of the BSkyB UK Network, and Global Crossings. At Ipsaris I provided consultancy services and developed a high level rollout plan for their VoIP project. I worked with Marketing in developing the proposal and presented my findings to the Board of Directors. At Global Crossings I was the PM for the Telecom Italia network rollout project.I have also worked for new companies such as Solgen, where I was involved from the beginning. Here I was involved in negotiations and assisted in developing SLAs, agreements and the specialised insurance plan. I was also the Senior Project Manager and delivered Solar PV installations.   I set up Funnelhead to exploit intellectual property I had created, primarily aimed at the Wind Turbines and the renewable energy market. I've progressed this to the proof of concept and I'm now working on raising funds to further develop the designs for a Beta model and then a full size prototype.

  Primarily recruited to be involved in all aspects of Project Management, from initial contact and relationship development with clients and suppliers to delivery of the project objectives. This work is mainily in MEP aspects of building projects, particularly in the Data Centre field for major Telecoms companies. Sorrento also provides services to various other industries.As a Senior Engineer, I oversee and mentor the Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and review and approve designs.
