Resident Leaders for Equity Program Fellow

As a selected resident, I committed to the eight month leadership development program, created to strengthen community knowledge of racial equity skills and strategies, and create positive neighborhood change. This program supported my growth and provided me the tools as a neighborhood leader to advocate for and help manage city development processes and, in particular, the racial impacts of gentrification.I collaborated with neighborhood leaders throughout Metro Atlanta, Clayton county, and South Fulton to learn from Atlanta's history, understand the displacement of residents, and affect community policies. I led a team of 5 to produce a community action plan where we developed strategies for community engagement, community organizing, and asset mapping to provide access to needed resources. Our goal was to address needs from wraparound services to both youth and adult mentorship. Here, we focused on fostering cross-generational engagement within Metro Atlanta's communities. Show less
