  Ranken Technical College is the only private, non-profit educational institution in St Louis specializing in training students in technical and mechanical occupations. General Education courses are one of three equal components of Ranken's pedagogical approach to STEM education. The General Education department is comprised of a small group of professionals who bring real-world understanding to the classroom. I was privileged to teach five sections of College Algebra to students in a variety of technical majors and mathematics abilities. Key Accomplishments:• My five sections had the lowest percentage of students who failed the course compared to all other Mathematics courses taught fall 2011.• Effective Pedagogical Approach. My approach to student learning is informed by multimodal curriculum design to enable groups of students to support, encourage and engage each other in learning. My course evaluations and students’ achievement demonstrate the success of my peer-focused pedagogical approach. For example, a few of my students who had never succeeded in Mathematics were amazed at their own achievement noting on the course evaluation that my class was the first experience in their entire educational career succeeding in Math.
