      Funded by Shell Global Solutions, the Environment Agency for England & Wales, and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, I pioneered the derivation of remediation technology 'operating windows' for use as a decision support tool during remediation options appraisal. The research culminated in the derivation of operating windows for Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater present in granular (sand and gravel) aquifers.

      While employed at Land Quality Management Ltd, I worked primarily on land contamination projects for sites being investigated under Part 2A by UK Local Authorities. Typical duties included engaging with Local Authority clients, site investigation design and implementation, engaging with subcontractors (drillers and laboratories), overseeing site investigation works, generic and detailed quantitative risk assessment (both human health and hydrogeological), preparation of reports, and peer review of third party reports submitted to Local Authorities by other consultants and contractors.In addition to the Part 2A work, I also co-authored publications including the LQM/CIEH Generic Assessment Criteria for Human Health Risk Assessment publication in 2009 and a CL:AIRE Research Bulletin on generic human-health assessment criteria for arsenic at former coking works sites in 2011.
