      AQA examiner English

As an AQA examiner for GCSE English Language papers, I am responsible for marking students' responses with accuracy, consistency, and fairness, adhering to the specific assessment criteria outlined by the exam board. My role involves carefully evaluating written work, ensuring that the marking aligns with AQA’s standards and guidelines. I am required to interpret students’ answers, recognising their strengths and areas for improvement while maintaining a focus on the overall educational objectives of the exam.In this position, I have developed a range of skills, including critical analysis, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the English Language curriculum. I am able to assess various aspects of language use, such as grammar, punctuation, coherence, and vocabulary, while ensuring the marking process is both objective and thorough. Additionally, the role has honed my ability to work under pressure, as I am often required to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy. The experience of being an examiner has also enhanced my communication skills, as I frequently collaborate with other examiners and attend training sessions to ensure uniformity in the marking process. It has also strengthened my knowledge of current GCSE standards and the ability to assess student work with a high level of accuracy and fairness. Show less

As Chair of Governors at Ranelagh Primary School, my role involves overseeing the strategic direction of the school, ensuring it remains inclusive, and fostering an environment where every child, regardless of their individual needs, has the opportunity to thrive. The Social Inclusion model at Ranelagh is central to this, promoting the idea that all children learn alongside each other, enhancing their social skills and building strong relationships that can last a lifetime. By adjusting their behaviour to support their peers, students develop empathy and an understanding that differences should be embraced.I would highly recommend being a governor, as it gives you the chance to understand the hard work, love, and commitment that all those in the educational sector dedicate to ensuring our young people can develop into articulate, resilient, well-rounded citizens. It is an act of service, but one with many rewards, as I can see, and in a small way contribute to, making a real difference. One of my favourite aspects of Ranelagh Primary School is the Roots to Ranelagh philosophy. This approach focuses on the whole child, integrating both academic and pastoral elements. It means we’re not just teaching children to succeed academically, but also to grow emotionally and socially, helping them become responsible young citizens of the world. Show less
