Began as an AAE; promoted to AE while also working in PR (in-house). In addition, built an online forum for the agency, using phpBB3, and introduced the use of version control (via Google Docs). Noticed a huge inefficiency with a software program and asked a developer to write code to improve a process - the result being, something that took 5 hours to do can now be done in 30 minutes without requiring constant attention. • Consulate General of Switzerland in New York

      Apr 2012 - Jun 2017
Communications / Digital / Social Media Strategist

In early 2012, I was hired by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs to launch a social media strategy as part of an e-diplomacy pilot project. In my role at the Consulate General, I managed communications strategy, community + press relations, event planning, and digital/social media. The Consulate General of Switzerland in New York was one of ten Swiss embassies and consulates around the world that participated in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs e-diplomacy pilot project to research how social media can be used as a tool for public diplomacy. In late 2012, I founded the New York Digital Diplomacy Meetup after recognizing the need for such a community in the diplomatic space. I regularly met with foreign governments and tech startups to discuss how innovative technologies could be used to support public diplomacy efforts. I've organized workshops and events with speakers from Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Google. I was also on the Digital Diplomacy Coalition NYC Leadership Team and helped to launch the New York chapter. My speaking engagements have included: SXSW 2013; Society of Foreign Consuls in New York; Social Media Summit NYC 2014; Social Media Analytics Summit Miami 2014; Guest Lecturer at St. Francis College in Brooklyn. I currently sit on the Leadership Team of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Digital Diplomacy Coalition.
