  Being a community advisor, I had to make sure that all the residents living on my floor were safety following the rules in the dormitory. I was active on the floor, making sure that everyone felt involved and as it was a safe community. To make a better and more involved floor, my co CA and I planned events and hosted them for our floor to get to know one another. Finally, as a ca, I was a mandator reporter. I learned how to also handle sensitive or uncomfortable situations amongst the whole dormitory, not just my floor. Show less

  • This was a class I took where I had the opportunity to work with other business students on a team. We worked with a small non-profit business and helped come up with marketing strategies for them to grow their business. Everyone had a certain role they played, and I was the communication liaison. My job on this team was to communicate directly with our client and bring back any important information from our conversation, back to the team and vice versa. I had to be able to schedule a time that worked best with both the client’s and my schedule after the team and I talked. I had to be a great an attentive listener while also taking notes to bring back to my team. Show less

  • Being a server, you learn how to multitask. When working, I served the tables that were in my section by greeting them, taking their order, handing out their food, and getting anything else for them that they needed such as napkins or condiments. This job taught me how to multitask and be able to do multiple things at once to the best of my ability. I was able to create connections with my tables/customers and I was able to manage 10+ tables at once, depending on the party size. When making connections with my tables, I was able to have them become my regulars and would serve them every time they came into the restaurant. This helped maintain business in the restaurant with my service. Show less
