Researching the acute and sub lethal effects of aspirin, ibuprofen and paracetamol on Gammarus pulex.This was an initial experiment that subsequently formed the first chapter for a future doctorate research project. Preliminary experiments were conducted to establish the LC50 concentrations of each type of pharmaceutical on the sensitive crustacean Gammarus pulex which is a freshwater detritivore. Using the results of the first tests, to make the research more unique, further experiments were set up, this time involving a social aspect to the project through determining the efficiency of generic and branded drugs and also the use of video recordings to analyze the effects on the organisms.
