My research project focused on studying a novel protein secretion system in Neisseria meningitidis using Escherichia coli as experimental organism.Project title: "Secretion mechanism of Neisseria meningitidis proteins". Supervisor: Prof. Jean-François Collet PhD project part of Train2Target, a MSCA ITN funded by Horizon Europe 2020. The consortium was formed by 9 academic groups, 5 enterprises and 3 Industry partners, experts in drug-development. The research project focused on studying the bacterial cell envelope biogenesis and the bacterial stress responses in order to address the challenge of discovering new targets to develop the new generation of antibiotics to fight multi-drug resistant bacteria and the increase of AMR. Received multidisciplinary trainings including trainings in drug discovery and development. Attended multiple conferences in Europe, US and South Africa, communicating the research project to a variety of audiences in different formats (oral, written, TV and radio interviews). Show less

  Working at DG Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) in the Medical countermeasures unit. HERA is to mission is to prevent, detect, and rapidly respond to health emergencies. Implementation of the Commission communication on addressing medicines shortages in the EU:- HERA co-lead on the European Commission analysis of the supply chain of critical medicines to determine potential vulnerabilities. - Collaboration with EMA in the joint EMA/HERA exercise to monitor of a subset of antibiotics in preparation for the autumn/winter 2023-2024.The Communication puts forward a broad set of short-term and longer-term actions to address shortages of medicines and enhance their security of supply in the EU, by providing predictability and a comprehensive and coordinated approach with stakeholders at EU and global level. The key goals are to prevent or mitigate critical shortages at EU level and to assure a particular focus on the most critical medicines for which security of supply needs to be assured in the EU at all times, in normal times, and in times of crisis.
