Maintaining stock control and inventory management routines and processes, and working alongside other departments to ensure a great customer shopping experience for all.I've been a department manager in Poole for just over 1 year now and have already gained valuable experiences and skills that are hugely transferable to other roles. Throughout the last 18 months the main factor I have had to deal with and manage is change within the workplace and embedding new processes and ways of working. With company restructuring meaning that the day workforce increased, I found myself leading a team of 20 colleagues as well as working with the nightshift managers and colleagues to ensure completion of deliveries and corporate targets, KPI's and ensuring a great shopping experience for our customers. This process showed me the importance of team morale and rapport in order to get the best out of my team, and showed me just how key communication within the workplace is to deliver a new way of working for our colleagues. It also developed my behavioural skills and managing experience through dealing with and delivering courageous conversations with colleagues and helping to develop their knowledge through working along side them, showing my passion and commitment to my job. Show less Taking care of the day to day routines on the shop floor, working alongside other colleagues and customers, ensuring that all processes were completed and deputising for the department manager when absent. Dealing with colleague and customer queries, working alongside the department manager to hit company driven targets and to overcome any day to day issues that arise. Originally starting off as a part time colleague, I decided that retail was the career for me and took on a full time role, learning from other experienced colleagues I led my own development and after just 4 months was signed off as a team leader., the quickest time that the store had seen, which reflected positively on me as being willing and committed to moving forward with the company. Demonstrating my ability to lead and take more responsibility for the colleagues around me, i was moved on to a different department, which was important for me as it really showed my enthusiasm for my career and meant i needed to transfer my skill sets to a slightly different role and colleagues, dealing with new problems and overcoming new challenges. My hunger for moving up the management ladder didn't end their, as i decided that i should look into the department manager role. Show less
