I had a number of diverse duties and responsibilities including the overall managing of the school link liaison/recruitment activity and the cross college co-ordination of the Enrichment Programme. Perhaps most important to this role is ensuring the effective transition/admission of students from the UK and internationally into the college, this also involves the strategic planning of all Open Evenings and external events. I was also responsible for intervention strategies at higher levels for students who are ‘at risk’ and also improving student services throughout the college. In addition, I promoted the work of the college to external partners, in particular local employers supporting the development of post college programmes within the local community. During specific points of the year, I provided Senior Management cover as the designated person in charge of the college building. I was Designated Lead for Safeguarding and Child Protection Matters and sat on the Children’s Safeguarding Board for the combined authority. From my previous role. The role involved the management of large cross-college budgets in a number of areas and also the collection of data to present detailed reports at a senior level. I was part of a Senior Leadership team and made decisions on both operational and strategic direction of the institution. I lead on talented athlete recruitment from the USA into our programmes. A new pioneering project for our sector that had excellent initial success. Show less I started as Head of Department for Sport and PE in 2005 and was promoted to Director of Sport in 2009 due to rapid growth and development in provision. Currently, I am responsible for academic and extra-curricular Sports provision at the college. Since starting in 2005 the department has experienced huge growth in student numbers and provision. Staffing has increased from 2 full-time members of staff to 5 full time staff, a range of outstanding sports coaches running highly successful sports academies in Netball, Football and Rugby, a College Sports Maker, a Trainer in Sport and PE, Sports Scientist and a Female Sports Activator. The college has had over 200 of its young athletes represent the region in recent years at National Championships and provides an exceptional level of support for elite athlete's aged 16-19 via the Scholarship Programme. We are very proud of our achievements in recent years and continue to combine academic excellence with an extensive level of support for all our students. Show less
