    • Earthjustice

      Jul 2009 - Jul 2012
      Litigation Assistant

Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization. As the first Litigation Assistant in the New York office, I developed organized workflows and set a new precedent for the involvement of Litigation Assistants in case research across the organization. I assisted with all aspects of casework including factual research, discovery, editing, and court filings. I also wrote memoranda on points of fact and law to assist in case development, drafted procedural motions, and contributed to comments on proposed federal and state rules and permits. My comments addressed federal coal ash and solid waste regulations, North Carolina factory farm permitting, and New York hazardous waste regulations. To support the communications team, I created maps and performed data analysis using geographic information system (GIS) software to perform environmental justice analyses of polluting facilities. My maps of natural gas infrastructure, particulate matter emissions, etc. were used in court filings, comments, the Earthjustice website, and press releases. Show less

    • Center for Business & the Environment at Yale

      Sept 2012 - May 2014
      Project Manager

CBEY performs applied research to advance business solutions to global environmental problems. As a Project Manager, I implemented a US DOE grant that was part of the SunShot initiative to identify lessons learned from the Solarize Connecticut solar marketing program. I managed a team of five student researchers as they interviewed 100 program participants and interpreted their findings to identify marketing best practices. Under a separate SunShot program, I also interviewed utility executives, municipal government officials, and solar installers in Connecticut to identify interconnection and permitting-related sources of “soft costs” in solar installations. With the CBEY team, I produced recommendations for utilities to reduce the cost of solar grid connections, which were included in "Connecticut Rooftop Solar PV Permitting Guide" (http://www.energizect.com/sites/default/files/uploads/%281%29%20CT%20Rooftop%20Solar%20PV%20Permitting%20Guide%20v1.0.pdf). I created sophisticated energy and financial models to calculate energy savings, NPV, payback, and other key metrics.
