  For the benefit of the FA, I was part of a team at the University of Gloucestershire researching adolescent youth and dropout from football. The FA’s National Game Strategy places emphasis upon developing better young players, an issue I am passionate about having seen the detrimental effects of a results-orientated culture in the game upon young people.This report was used by The FA, to inform the current National Game Strategy for Youth Football 2012-16.My contribution to develop this report provided an opportunity to feedback recommendations to the Football Association’s National Development Manager on football policy at a national level, regarding best practice and inclusion in the grassroots game. These experiences inform further my awareness of good practice in sports agendas, necessary to contribute to a sports development evidence base, to understand the impact of initiatives in the wider strategic agenda for football. Show less Part of a team that coordinate NGB sport coaching courses, my organisational and administrative skills required in this role were enhanced from developing course lists and handling financial transactions and expense claims.Facilitated a wide range of coaching opportunities for students in many sports, to provide newly-qualified coaches with vocational experience. In liaising with sports coordination colleagues, schools and National Governing Bodies, the role developed a coaching workforce to enable the delivery of sustainable sports participation provision in the local community, demonstrating my experience of managing a volunteer workforce. To support those students involved in football based projects, I piloted Football Futures to reward their voluntary commitment to develop the game. This experience of supporting and understanding the importance of a coaching and volunteer body in sports development has been brought into my future Sports Development practice. Show less
