Also contributed to policy development and helped to shape the national agenda on fostering and adoption.I continue to write books and materials on fostering, adoption and leaving care for the organisation which is now known as Coram BAAF.

  Freelance media manager, journalist and copywriter

  Since becoming freelance in 1992 my career spanned a wide range of projects. Alongside coaching and training (as above) I have also worked as journalist, copywriter, author, and PR consultant. This included:Running media campaigns for Department of Health, Fostering Network, Disability Rights Commission, Action on Elder Abuse, Action for Children and Child Accident Prevention Trust and many more. Freelance journalism for Guardian Society, Community Care, Children and Young People Today, Red magazine etc Copywriting for the International Association of Facilitators, Child Safety Week, Shelter, Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), Barnardo's etc Author of fiction and non-fiction. Including a number of guides for adopters and foster carers. such as The Foster Carers Handbook on Parenting Teenagers, and the Need to Know pamphlets about sensitive and complex topics such as Gangs, Self Harm, Sexuality, Internet Safety and Radicalisation.   Talk Consultancy was a communications and media training company, run by Sony-award winner, Ian Peacock (now ceo of Hummingbird Audio), Ian and I continue to work together on a range of projects, including media training - for senior staff preparing to appear on television and radio.

  Founded soon after completing my initial coach training (I was trained as a coach by the internationally recognised Coaching Development in 2006, went on to do a diploma in coaching and am accredited at PCC level by the International Coach Federation (ICF). This organisation was set up to help people recognise and utilise their own resources to the maximum, to robustly think through their plans and identify their priorities - and break tasks into manageable stages. Also specialised in helping people to turn setbacks into valuable learning experiences and develop resilience to 'keep on keeping on' until they reached their goals. In 2017 Resourceful Coaching Associates was re-launched as Absolute Clarity, to reflect some changes in the focus of my work and to recognise that 'resourceful' was becoming a rather hackneyed expression.
