    • Your Pets Best Friend

      Jul 2009 - Aug 2013
MD/CEO - Professional obidence dog trainer

In 2009 I was made redundant from Event Works due to the recession in Ireland. I took this opportunity to start a new venture. I had noticed a gap in the market for professional pet services, including dog walking, pet sitting and home boarding. I spent some time working on my website, social media and educating myself in the field as well as getting hands on experience by volunteering in a rescue centre. As time went on and the company grew I recognised that there was a demand for dog trainers. I therefore took the initiative to educate myself in this field to enable myself to expand the services offered by the company. The company became a great success due to my hard work and dedication to a friendly and personable customer service. My marketing approach was fun and friendly through social media, blogs, newspapers and magazine articles. I also looked after all the background day to day running of the company including finance, administration, personnel and customer service. As my company and my professional skills became recognised and acknowledged, I was approached by other leading pet services professionals in Ireland and I worked on a consultant basis with Positive Dog Training doing group dog training classes and helping them when needed in their day care centre. Daily skills set included:- Managing staff- Answering phone calls & emails- Booking appointments- Managing employee diaries- Maintaining clients information & data protection- Customer service- Managing accounts- Sending Invoices- Updating social media, blogs & website- Marketing & advertising- Private one on one training classes- Creating customised training plans and notes- Consultant work for Positive Dog Training- Dog walker- Pet sitter- Home boarding- Pet suitability checks- Introducting and socalising pets- Noticing and informing clients of behaviour changes in their pets- Vet visits- Volunteer charity work with Cats Aid Dublin Show less
