      BSc(Hons) Agricultural Engineering Soil and Water Engineering

      Part of Cranfield University the course was basically Mechanical Engineering with modules related to Agriculture. I specialised in the Soil & Water modules which related to land drainage of soil & grassed surfaces as opposed to hard landscaped areas such as roads, or civil engineering principles, but the underlying theory is equally applicable and took me into the sport & leisure market with the increase in drainage for school & council sports pitches and golf courses.

      Senior Soil & Water Engineer specialising in amenity land drainage > sports fields, golf courses, cricket wickets, landscaped areas, plus restoration of former sand & gravel workings to leisure and agricultural uses. Soil restoration, earthmoving, cut-and-fill, bunds, dams, embankments, land drainage, irrigation, ditches and watercourses. Soil and Water Engineer working alongside colleagues providing land drainage, arterial drainage, soils, irrigation and water supply advice to farmers and landowners, including land and arterial drainage for the M40 extension north of Oxford from 1988 to 1991. Graduate trainee Soil and Water Engineer based in the ADAS office at Picton Terrace in Carmarthen South West Wales working alongside colleagues to provide the first chargeable ADAS services to farmers and landowners, including soil surveys to map the boundary of the Less Favoured Area (LFA).
