      Gained a broad understanding of the SDV (Software Defined Vehicle), the automotive industry, and the transition from using traditional CAN to a CAN & Ethernet combo-based network in vehicles. Built and supported various hardware testbeds used for QA for automatic sanity and regression testing • Testbeds consisted of UUT (unit under test), relay breakout boards capable of turning on/off various CAN signals, media converters, and CAN signal-generation hardwareCreated a setup/troubleshooting guide and designed a testbed wiring topology for the QA & SW embedded teams • Discussed how to run firmware commands used to turn CAN signals on/off and commands used to diagnose issuesCompiled/flashed AVR microcontrollers (ATmega 328P) using C to enhance firmware useability by providing quality-of-life commands to diagnose testbed issues • Wrote a function to calculate how long the firmware has been active without an error/reset from internal-oscillator ticks • Wrote a function that gradually turned on relays to prevent high inrush current spikesDeveloped extensive soldering/rework experience, comfortable working on high-density PCBs and small form factor parts • Replaced faulty surface-mount parts eg. ICs, relays, resistors, fuses, using soldering iron and heat gun • Tested components and gained valuable hardware debugging experience Show less
