      Fabrication and Maintenance

During my time at Honda of Canada Mfg, I wanted to get the most out of my experience both at work and outside of work, so I joined the volunteer Honda race team. On the team, I got the chance to fabricate parts of the car and do general maintenance on the car as seen below:- Fabricated and installed a carbon fiber and kevlar roof and reduced the weight by over 10lbs- Fabricated and installed a rear quarter glass panel out of carbon fiber, using a 3-D printed mold that I designed in CATIA. This panel held a nozzle that I hooked up to an integrated air jack system with custom made hoses- Fabricated and installed a battery box/enclosure now located next to the driver Show less

-Led investigations related to quality issues with the Honda Civic, related to visual, audible, functional and safety related defects. Sometimes these defects would put a stop to production for days.-Met with upper management frequently during the week to discuss finding and next steps in my investigations-Travelled to suppliers across Canada and the US to investigate and change their process to eliminate the quality concern at the source before assembly of the vehicle.-Worked with all departments in the plant to find root causes of the solutions (Weld, Paint, Stamping, Engine Assembly, Vehicle Quality, Product Engineering, Purchasing, Injection Molding)-Regularly used CAD and CMM (point to point and scanned) data based on actual measurements of the vehicle to determine where the source of misalignment was between parts/assemblies Show less -Worked in the D-Zone (Hood Line, Trunk Line and Door Line) group in the Weld department as my 1 year temporary department in the Honda engineering development program-My main project was Hood Line Innovation, where the scope of the project was to design and install a robotic weld cell to mate all of the parts of the new aluminium hood (a first for Civic) together into the final assembly-I also helped lead the New Model Investment project for all of D-Zone and presented to the Honda president the plan for the project and the money needed for all of the new cell modifications and robots.
