      Sept 2009 - Dec 2009
      Student Teacher

At Brookdale Community College, I decided to take an Introduction to Education course, since I was interested in teaching Mathematics. One of the requirements for completing the course was to complete 60 hours of student teaching. I chose to student teach with a middle school Mathematics teacher at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School of the Freehold Township Schools in Freehold Township, New Jersey. I completed well over 60 hours, student teaching weekly for four months. As a student teacher, I observed the classroom and teaching techniques used to increase student comprehension. I assisted my mentor teacher in grading tests and quizzes, preparing for classes, and administering exams. Also, I learned how to write lesson plans and effectively give notes for students to copy; I practiced some of these teaching techniques I learned while teaching the students towards the end of the experience.
