      Electrical Engineer

      • Designed and built a laser diode driver circuit for high-power pulsed operations with adjustable current output and <100 ps pulse width as a part of hardware research and development team.

    • Bilkent University

      Aug 2012 - Jun 2019
Research Assistant- Ultrafast Optics and Lasers Laboratory

      • Designed and built a high-power, all-fiber erbium-doped nanosecond laser system thatwas used for subsurface silicon processing. • Used various diode-pumping configurations, diode electronic drivers and acousto-optic modulator for pulse duration and repetition rate adjustment• Developed a novel three-dimensional laser lithography method to fabricate optical devicesinside silicon with sub-micron resolution. • Used C++ and Matlab for automated device fabrication and process monitoring. • Built a free-space infrared-transmission microscope for analysis of the laser-written structures. • Collaborated with a group of material scientists to develop a chemical-etching solution toselectively remove the laser-modified areas and enable three-dimensional sculpting of silicon. Postdoctoral Associate - Ultrafast Optics Laboratory

o High-power, ultrafast thulium-doped, pulsed fiber laser system for two-photon microscopy: The laser system is to be delivered to the Department of Biology at Boston University for scientific usage as part of a $2.7 million-National Institute of Health (NIH) project. • Designed and fabricated various mode-locked fiber lasers and fiber amplification systems for fulfilling the project specifications. • Characterized and troubleshot the system using auto-correlator, spectrum analyzer, fast optoelectronics and various other optical measurement instruments.• Developed a simulation toolbox for nonlinear pulse propagation analysis in the ultrafastfiber oscillators and amplifiers (Matlab and Python).• Simulated several nonlinear crystals for highest conversion efficiency in second harmonic generation using SNLO and Matlab; designed and assembled a free-space optical system for the nonlinear conversion setup.• Generated design documentation and system performance reports for the prototype. Decided and procured the optical components, sub-systems and instruments for the project. Supervised three graduate students.o Thulium-doped fiber amplifier for infrared neural stimulation: The system was delivered to Boston University Department of Biomedical Engineering and is being actively usedin laboratory environment.• Designed and prototyped an amplifier system optimized for µs-pulses and low repetition-rate.• Designed a thermal management system for the stable operation of the laser.
