  I spent my time on my work placement abroad conducting a research project as part of my Bachelor's degree.My project involved investigating the role of the Rab6 protein in mammary gland development!Here, I was thrown into the deep end as it was my first independent lab project outside of university. I’m thankful for the experience as it taught me how to be independently creative and self-sufficient. I was able to develop my problem-solving skills as I was often left to my own devices.I also worked on another project assisting in the research on the mechanisms of human cell invasion by the bacterium Shigella.I learnt the importance of organisation and planning, especially when it comes to bacterial cell and mammalian cell manipulation.
