    • Ovations Inc.

      Sept 1993 - Jan 2011
      President

I founded Ovations with the mission of supporting organizations in content creation, brand communication, and marketing. In working with leaders, I discovered that I could have an additional impact by helping managers build their expertise and lead more effectively through experiential team-building and leadership development programs.I worked with a long list of for-profit companies, nonprofits, and association and government organizations including AEGON, U.S. Army, Towson University, T. Rowe Price, Genesis Healthcare, Johns Hopkins Medicine, State of Maryland, Lifebridge Health & Fitness, Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Carroll Hospital Center, Federal Executive Women, and Chesapeake Human Resources Association, among others. During this time, I also authored Magic Moments: A Busy Woman’s Guide to Forgotten Pleasures and completed nationwide book and media tour that led to dozens of appearances on stages, radio shows, and TV programs across the country, as well as in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Selling Power, Baltimore Business Journal, Maryland Daily Record and Baltimore magazine. Apr 2011 - Sept 2012
Director, Maryland Metabolic Institute, Saint Agnes Hospital

I had a significant impact in a condensed period of time as the Director of the Maryland Metabolic Institute. My focus was to provide strategic, entrepreneurial leadership for the launch of this new initiative that combined recognized, innovative lines of service to decrease the incidence and complications of metabolic disease.During my time in this role, I generated nearly $700,000 in annual revenue for the organization and collaborated with Saint Agnes Foundation to identify and write grants that supported and enhanced Institute programs. Contributions led to more than $340,000 in grant funding within one year.I also provided oversight of redesignation of the bariatric program as a Center of Excellence and of the Diabetes Center as an ADA Certified Self Management Education Program. In addition, I oversaw space planning and redevelopment of facilities for program growth.Managing vendor relationships and contracts was another key part of this job and, with our largest vendor, I achieved savings of more than $200,000 as a result of contract and program revisions. • Junior Achievement of Central Maryland

      Oct 2012 - Feb 2020
      Senior Vice President

In the SVP role, I managed internal operations, marketing communications, and program implementation for more than 48,000 K-12 students each year. My responsibilities included developing the annual operations plan and budget, leading the performance management process, facilitating team and board meetings, strengthening brand awareness to position JA as a trusted resource and solution provider, supporting business development efforts and special events, and working closely with the President to develop our strategic plan and promote board engagement. Because JA is mostly funded by corporations and businesses, its operations and financial procedures are best-in-class among nonprofits. As a result, we actively hired people that continue to bring that level of expertise and professionalism to the table. I viewed the essence of my role as facilitating a greater connection between our mission and programming, and the staff and volunteers that make it all possible. I focused on driving strategic priorities, as well as designing and putting key systems in place regarding onboarding, employee engagement, coaching, and retention so our team members felt valued and supported.I was also instrumental in securing and stewarding key resources from a variety of funders, including Under Armour, Allegis Group, T. Rowe Price, Wells Fargo, and The Achievement Foundation. Show less

    • Greenville Center for Creative Arts

      Feb 2020 - Mar 2022
      Executive Director

As Executive Director, I provided strategic and day-to-day leadership for this seven-year-old, community-based non-profit visual arts center that offers quality art education for all ages; affordable studio rentals for working artists; free exhibitions of local, regional, and national art; and arts enrichment outreach for underserved populations. In addition to my fiscal management and operating expertise, building relationships and trust were the keys to my success at GCCA. I worked during the most challenging of times to stabilize the organization, energize the board to be active ambassadors, collaborate with community leaders to expand access to the visual arts, and foster partnerships that leveraged resources. These strategies were critical to take an organization that had three months of operating cash when I began to accumulating well over a year's worth of reserves, all while funding and completing a 7,000 square-foot facility expansion within a renovated textile mill. During my tenure, I also led a strategic planning process that engaged more than 200 community members to create an impactful roadmap for the future. Show less
