  Provide direct nursing care and assessments as well as triage nursing for adult cardiology patients in the outpatient setting. Use a standardized rooming process to bring patients to exam room, obtain vital signs, review medical, surgical, and social histories, update medication list, and ensure new concerns are identified and provider is notified. Common skills and responsibilities include performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), obtaining intravenous (IV) access to administer contrast dyes for echocardiograms, administering IV medications, and drawing lab work, using doppler devices for blood pressures on patients with mechanical cardiac devices, proposing medication refills and lab orders, and placing a variety of cardiac monitors on patients, including BioTel event monitors, Holter monitors, and blood pressure monitors. Triage nursing is another role and responsibility. Communicating with patients via emergent triage line and portal messages to assess health status, new problems/complaints, symptoms, and vital signs used to determine recommendations and level of medical attention needed for patient during that time. Non-urgent communication with patients via phone or patient portal to relay information from providers, including test results and analysis, follow-up, and other non-clinical requests. Collaborated with physicians (residents to attendings), advanced practitioners, social workers, child life specialists, physical/occupational/speech therapists, dietitians, and other nursing staff daily to provide consistent care. Patients and their families were advocated for with safety and satisfaction prioritized.
