    • Energy and Resources Group | University of California, Berkeley

      Aug 2014 - Dec 2019
      Master's/Ph.D Program

My focus as a U.C. Berkeley Energy and Resources Group Ph.D. student was on sustainable food systems, agroecology and climate change education. I partnered with several small scale farms, school gardens, and schools in Washington, California, and D.C. to complete my dissertation research, as well as the Berkeley Food Institute. In addition to pursuing research projects in these fields, I completed an interdisciplinary array of graduate classes spanning social science, research methods, food policy and economics, quantitative environmental problem solving and ecological water quality engineering. I was the co-founder and agriculture and water systems lead on a team of graduate students that designed and built a net zero energy tiny house for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Tiny House competition in 2016. Additionally, I volunteered in a Berkeley High School physics classroom teaching energy science, and in a middle school garden classroom in Oakland. Show less
