  I worked in the pilot plant and sensory lab at Purdue University's Food Science building. I got to participate in real pilot plant experiments for companies and helped set up and maintain processing equipment. I also worked in the sensory lab where we designed and ran sensory tests.

  Though only working at Swagger foods a couple of years, I've held many different positions, sometime simultaneously. At different times I've done research and development, quality assurance, and operations, so I've seen how a food company operates as a whole. I've also successfully trained three new employees. It's a good place to get some experience but not a dream job. From R&D and quality assurance I've become really good at tasting things, especially when it comes to comparisons. Doing operations has taught me how to type and enter data extremely fast and how to communicate with suppliers, customers, transportation companies, etc. Show less

  I was the SQF practitioner at The Popcorn Factory, so I oversaw their food safety and quality systems and handled all food safety audits. I managed several employees that helped with checking different aspects of safety and quality throughout the facility and helped with documentation for SQF. I was also involved in product development and created new popcorn flavors. I was the expert of FDA regulations for my company, especially in regards to food labelling. I made and reviewed labels for the company to make sure they followed FDA regulations, and participated in many other projects related to product development and product quality
