      My role consists in managing on a day-to-day basis the resources of the environmental chemistry knowledge group and to ensure the effective contribution of the group to delivering the research programme. Within this role I manage 10+ people in the group of various seniority levels (technical support staff to principal researchers) and supervise the Tata Steel Trace Organics and Trace Elemental Analysis Laboratory – accredited to ISO17025 for a number of analytical procedures.Main duties:- Management: manage the allocation of resources of the group to achieve the plan, look after staff, administrative duties (expenses, timesheets, orders...), ensure work is done safely and to quality standards, ensure company strategies are cascaded- Technical: assist employer by providing technical knowledge in the field environmental chemistry with regard to legislation relevant to the steel industry, maintain technical expertise of the group, participation in specialist working groups, assist in formulating work program and strategies Show less My role consists in assisting my employer on all technological aspects related to environmental issues for air and water matrices. Fields of expertise:• Air quality relating to emissions of airborne particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10), persistent organic pollutants, volatile organic compounds and toxic heavy metals with respect to the current legislation (EU and UK levels).• Water quality relating to the release of chemical pollutants in industrial effluents (ammonia, cyanide, metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) with respect to the current legislation (EU and UK levels).My main duties involve:- Project management: Coordinator and leader of large projects (~1,5 M€ ; 3.5 years) co-funded by the European Commission (Research Fund for Coal and Steel)- Environmental analysis: Working in a busy environmental chemistry lab accredited to ISO17025; Development, validation and application of methods to characterise trace organic and inorganic pollutants using a combination of spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques Show less
