      As Special Correspondent (Features) at Outlook Magazine in New Delhi, I focused on stories related to human rights, social justice, health, environment, politics and religion. My responsibilities included reporting, writing, page planning, and planning special story packages. I've worked on long investigative pieces that required thorough probe, analysis and critical thinking. For example, I wrote a story uncovering in chilling details, the terrible price that the inhabitants of Sonbhadra--a power hub in North India, are paying for the spectacular industrial development that has taken place in that region. I helped establish a clear and fatal link between mercury poisoning from the power plants and a whole range of deadly illnesses from which the local residents suffer. I actively helped a Features team of reporters pitch their story ideas, plan and shape their stories. My story about lesbian couples in India proclaiming their sexual preference openly at a time when the same-sex debate was raging in newsrooms around the world, was recognized with the Stree Shakti Award for Excellence in Journalism from the Press Council of India in 2013.It was for my reporting at Outlook that I was awarded the World Press Institute Fellowship in the United States , which is awarded annually to the top ten journalists around the world.
