Tutored North Korean defector students weekly in remedial English as part of a Fulbright Korea initiative. Launched the Fulbright Korea Webinar Series connecting current scholars with alumni over video calls centered on industry-specific career advice and successfully organized and hosted 12 webinars.       As a Mirzayan Fellow, I conducted research on how Africa’s current continental Science Technology and Innovation policy has been integrated at the regional and national level, culminating in the report “A Review of Africa’s continental STI policy frameworks: devising a way forward for STISA.” I also represented the US National Academies at four international meetings addressing how Academies can support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

      Effectiveness of Water Treatment Technologies in Preventing Childhood Stunting - Assessing the relationship between childhood stunting and two point of use water treatment devices through a two-year randomized control trial with 400 study households. Collaborating with South African researchers, graduate students, and local field workers. - Led two undergraduate student teams for two-month sessions to perform field work in rural South Africa. Mentored and created programming for students from underrepresented groups through a National Institute of Health minority research training grant Electrolytic Silver Release as Disinfection Mechanism in Drinking Water - Established a proof-of-concept that silver could be delivered electrolytically in point-of-use treatment devices. - Developed a prototype incorporating the technology and evaluated its performance in rural South African households Show less
