The Final Mile business initiative started in the Fall of 2014. Supply Chain set out to transition the fleet locations to third party by the end of 2015. This includes the closing of over 60 Fleet locations impacting over 2000 associates. The field HR team worked together to provide thoughtful and compassionate support to the impacted associates during a very difficult transition period. There were numerous complements submitted by the impacted associates acknowledging the dedication and care from the local HR team. In August 2015, it was decided to reconsider the initial strategy, slow down the transition, and reopen 6 fleet locations. The HR teams quickly shifted gears and acted quickly to reengage over 175 associates and leaders to rejoin Staples. In addition to the field team, we would not have been able to successfully execute the required WARN, severance, final pay, and retention without the help of Cathleen Daily, Gabrielle Spells, Linda Mason, and Jason Hopper. They have been instrumental in this process. This team collectively, has demonstrated their commitment to Staples, our customers, and, most importantly, our associates, their dedication to make more happen. Show less
