At Bonneville Communications, I was tasked with optimizing a client's YouTube account (400k+ subscribers) using Photoshop and search engine optimization strategies. Using my Spanish-speaking skills, I was also able to help with the translation process for over 100 videos. At Boncom, I learned that to create something excellent it takes time, attention to detail, and creativity.

      Apr 2022 - Jun 2023
      Crisis Counselor (Volunteer)

CTL is a platform where people can text anonymously for help with their anxiety. People's issues ranged from self-harm, breakups, abuse, lack of LGBTQ+ acceptance, and even suicide. I was on the other side to listen and comfort, helping them talk through their problems and showing them helpful resources. Some people said that our conversation had saved their life or that they were now crying happy tears instead of sad ones. I learned valuable life skills to help reduce anxiety. Not only did I feel like I was helping change lives, but CTL was an empathy-widening experience that changed mine. I volunteered around 150 total hours. Show less

My research focused on incorporating various metal salts into zeolite beads to maximize hydrogen sulfide absorption and thus increase air quality. Initially, as the only non-chemistry major in the lab, Ifelt intimidated. Doing research was out of my comfort zone, but by the end of it, I had presented successful findings to my lab, trained and mentored two other research assistants, and mastered the scanning electron microscope. From this experience, I improved my public speaking, leadership skills, and manual dexterity which will help me as I navigate dental school. Show less
