      As a Pharmacy Extern I follow the work flow of a pharmacy Technician, but also complete many tasks that are pharmacist dependent, with autonomy. These tasks include: calling Physicians to verify corrections on Prescriptions, taking prescription call-ins / voicemails, Counseling patients on OTC products, prescription questions, current disease state management, teaching pharmacy techs how to work with insurance billing, helping manage inventory of the pharmacy, preparing prescriptions for verification by the pharmacist, selling prescriptions to patients, checking patient’s blood glucose / blood pressure, administering vaccinations, and helping the pharmacist conduct Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services and health screening on and with patients.
