      Macmillan Cancer Information Specialist

      I am a Clinical Cancer Information Specialist providing a direct service to people affected by cancer (PABC). I am Service Lead for Notthingham's Macmillan Information and Support Service.I work flexibly as an autonomous practitioner ensuring accessibility and visibility for all members of the MDT's as well as providing a flexible drop in service for PABC. I provide high quality information at all stages of the cancer journey, a comprehensive signposting service, counselling, practical and emotional support, help to apply for benefits, financial support, grants applications,advice and information on treatments, diet and exercise, symptoms and much more. I act as an advocate for people living with cancer as a long term condition and with the long term effects of having had cancer.I Lead and recruit to a multi professional steering group. The steering group consists of Health and Social Care Professionals and service user representatives. To have responsibility for compiling agendas and driving forward initiatives to ensure quality cancer information is available within the NUH Trust, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCGs.I am responsible for facilitating and providing visible evidence of user feedback and peer review from the Cancer Information service in order to maintain standards and implement improvements. Supporting, developing and implementing cancer information improvement and initiatives for local service and across the region.I recruit and train volunteers within the guidelines of Macmillan and NUH Trust. I act as a specialist cancer information resource for the training and education of HCPs and volunteers, and seek to be involved in professional network and national initiatives/policies and to demonstrate, promote and share evidence based practice and research in relation to information provisionsI actively seek patient and public involvement (PPI), to actively lead or contribute towards the directorates PPI agenda including patient user groups Show less
