  Senior Tech at Frequency Monitoring Station on Vandenberg AFB, Ca. Secret Clearence. Worked with entire spectrum monitoring, Space Shuttle support, triangulate distress signals for aircraft and ships, tones for missile destruct if off-course.

  Managed offices in Bryson City, NC and Kings Mountain, NC. Maintained Series 6 & 63 licenses. As the Agency Manager, I worked with office staff to provide customers with all lines of personal and commercial insurance products. Also worked with the local Farm Bureau directors to raise funding and support for the agriculture community, at the local and state levels.

  Built a full-line insurance agency, including commercial and personal insurance for property, casualty, health, and life insurance. Employed an agency staff of 4-5 agents and support personnel. Our agency won industry awards and was a consultant for other insurance agencies and governmental bodies, including giving testimony before a sub-committee of the US House of Representatives on Health Insurance.

  Served as Chair of the Board of County Commissioners (3 years), Vice Chair (1 year), and Commissioner of Cleveland County. Essential responsibilities were to adopt the county budget, adopt county ordinances, provide high-level goals and objectives for the organization, and employ the CEO. During my tenure, we increased the general fund balance from nearly 10% to over 18% without tax or fee increase. At the same time, a salary survey was completed and staff payroll was corrected to meet market demands (along with benefits), making the county an "employer of choice" for the region. Show less

  I help the county grow by identifying and developing business opportunities, building relationships with potential and existing stakeholders, and promoting the county’s services. As Business Development Director for Cleveland County, I act as a liaison between the county and a sovereign Native American nation and as the project manager for any associated projects. I also work with municipalities on county-shared goals and projects. I serve as the director of the county-owned conference center (the largest in the region) and work with other county departments, including: Economic Development, Animal Services, Foothills Shooting Complex, Cleveland County Fairgrounds, and others as requested by the county manager's office. Specific areas of assistance can be: financial, personnel, strategic planning, business operations, contracts, and political/public interactions. Show less
