      Nov 2018 - now

I served serve as the National Park Service's (NPS) Mechanical Engineering and Sustainability Technical Specialist in the Technical Branch at the Denver Service Center, the central planning, design, and construction management office for the NPS in Lakewood, CO.As a Technical Specialist, I provide support for our Project Managers, design teams, parks, program offices and regions. This technical support includes analyzing HVAC system options, material selections, integrated design, troubleshooting, cost estimating, preparing scopes of work, LEED and sustainable design consulting, and evaluating design and construction proposals. In additional to my technical support role, I provide detailed technical design reviews on each project that is managed by our office. The projects include existing facilities, historic structures, new construction and infrastructure systems. The design review process starts at Pre-Design and goes through Construction Document Phase. I also maintain the Sustainability Design Standards section of our Workflows Website. This website provides guidance for architectural/engineering and construction firms and includes design standards, codes, laws, Executive Orders, policies, and guidelines. My passion for sustainable building design has allowed me to serve as the LEED Coordinator and complete the necessary LEED templates for the White House Visitors Center (LEED Silver) and the Flight 93 National Memorial Visitor Center and Learning Center (LEED Gold). Additionally, I have actively participated on the LEED team for many other NPS projects.Prior to my Federal service, I worked in the consulting engineering field for 11 years as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager on commercial, institutional, residential, government, and medical projects. I am a licensed Mechanical Engineer, LEED AP, and Level 1 COR.Outside of work I am an avid cyclist and enjoy spending time in the Colorado outdoors with my wife and 2 kids. Show less
