      Whilst at Eastern Airways I was working within the operations department. I was shown what is involved in maintaining an on time flying programme by overcoming any unforeseen problems that may arise. I was also shown how to build flight plans using specialist software and then submit these plans to Eurocontrol in Brussels for approval. Due to the eruption of a Volcano in Iceland which grounded all European air travel I was able to see first hand how the operations department of a busy airline handles such a crisis. Show less

      In this temporary role I was a member of the airline team assisting in the build up towards the World Routes event in Berlin.I assisted in recruiting airlines for an international industry event, I also liaised directly with airline delegates in order to collect travel details for the purposes of retention. Alongside this I was responsible for maintaining up to date records of the 300+ airlines that attended the event. Furthermore I assisted with the writing of the airline section of the delegate directory a copy of which was issued to every delegate that attended the event.In addition to this I was also charged with contacting several high profile airline VIPs in order to determine their travel intentions so that special arrangements could be made for them whilst at the event. During the event in Berlin I assisted the scheduling team, this involved issuing diaries to delegates, dealing with any queries, resolving any issues that arose with diaries or meetings and assisting with the running of the extra meeting system.       Resource Specialist

      Working within the central resource team charged with resourcing the companies’ ground staff my principle responsibilities entail producing effective rosters for staff based within the East Midlands and Scotland that satisfy the needs of the companies customers. In addition I am also responsible for monitoring Hidden 18 indicators in order to ensure that any risk of fatigue is mitigated. Furthermore I am required to communicate with frontline staff on a day-to-day basis in order to notify of any roster changes, releases from duty and annual leave arrangements. My duties also include the production of a weekly document that is sent to payroll to ensure that all staff overtime is paid on time and accurately. I frequently liaise directly with production managers, area production managers and relevant teams on matters of resource utilization and ground staff training needs as well as the resolution of emerging resource demand conflicts. Alongside my planning role I am depended on to work closely with the companies’ central control function in order to react to any unforeseen issues and ensure that disruption to the trainplan is kept to a minimum.Supplementary to my day to day responsibilities I have also been responsible for integrating the Scottish rostering in to the centralized resource centre. In order to allow the transition from local rostering to run as smoothly as possible I was required to quickly understand the local practices and agreements of the Scottish team inorder to assimilate the area into the Resources Centre’s SOPs with minimum disruption to the business.       Working for a very active flying school I am responsible for delivering both ab-initio and class rating flying instruction with the ability to teach towards both the night and aerobatic ratings. Ensuring that students are able to operate an aircraft in a safe and efficient manner. This also includes teaching of aviation theory delivering instruction both to large groups and on a one to one basis. As a CAA ground examiner I am able to administer the EASA theoretical exams required towards the issue of EASA licences. In addition to my instructing duties I also have a role in operations where I reconcile the financial accounts and provide information regarding wastage and errors to the managing director. Furthermore, I am the co-ordinator for the highly successful ‘fast track’ scheme. This role involves liaising directly with customers in order to create a suitable training plan which satisfies both the requirements of the company and is convenient for the customer. I am also the customer point of contact for this scheme should any issues arise. A further element of my role is monitoring student and ensuring that all training complies with the company operations manual and EASA Part-FCL regulations. If students are not progressing, I am required to investigate the cause and work with both the customer and the instructor in order to create a remedial plan of action in order to achieve the desired goal. I regularly contribute to the marketing of the business by writing flying related articles which are published on the company website. Show less

This involves planning and delivering lectures as well in accordance with the university’s requirements. This is in addition to creating and executing end of module tests. Alongside my planned duties I have made myself available to students seven days a week via email should they have any questions or feel that they require any additional tuition on the subjects covered.
