      Jul 2009 - Mar 2022
Unit Director Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

The SICU is comprised of 8 ICU beds, and the CICU consists of 10 ICU beds. As the Unit Director of the SICU and the Rapid Response Team, I fulfill many roles and responsibilities including all aspects of administrative responsibilities for over 60 direct reports, as well as various projects that improve efficiency, safety, and a shared governance culture. My first responsibility is to ensure the patients of the SICU receive the best possible care available. This is ensured through the many avenues of educational opportunities offered in the SICU. One of these educational sessions is the SICU Lecture Series. This is an educational series designed for the nurses of the SICU by the CRNPs of the SICU. We incorporate speakers, PowerPoint presentations, RN to RN education, as well as a unit based staff meeting. I continue to be an active member or lead on many unit based, institutional, and system-wide committees focused on providing excellence in healthcare. Some of these committees include: Code Review, The MERIT committee co-lead, Aspiration Committee, Collection Manager Lead, and others. In the SICU, we pride ourselves on very low SSI, CAUTI, and Central line infection rates, and a high patient satisfaction score. The SICU is an open ICU which makes all of the aforementioned barriers difficult to accomplish; however, we do this very well through teamwork and dedication to excellence in patient care. I also direct the Rapid Response Team here at Presbyterian University. This group of nurses are all highly qualified in code situations and partner very closly with our Critical Care Teams. Unit Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and the Rapid Response Team

In charge on an 8 bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit as noted below and have acquired the Rapid Response Team for the Presbyterian, Montefiore, Falk Hospital, Eye and Ear Hospital Campuses. The rapid Response team is comprised of a team of highly experienced nurses who are specifically trained in the de-escalation of critical scenarios within and outside the walls of these buildings. They are trained in trauma, OB, and general triage of coding patients. Each of these nurses has a project that helps and develops the nurses of the hospital to bolster their knowledge and experience. They are Covid experts and able to go into any situation to help those in distress, They will also debrief the staff of the area that had a condition in order too give feedback on the floors response as well as take feedback on their own response. This group is dynamic and agile. This group also leads discussions in Code prevention as well as feedback to our physician partners in our Code Review meetings to help ensure better outcomes for out patients. As a group, we are on the cutting edge of Critical Care Medicine and innovation of technques to optimize patient outcomes. Show less

    • St. Clair Health

      Mar 2022 - now
      Director of Critical Care Services

In this role I am accountable for all executive responsibilities for various acute care units within the St. Clair Health System. Capital responsibilities are included, as well as creating and updating policies pertinent to the critical care service line. This role also includes the development and maintenance of order sets for the service line for the purpose of improving patient care and the patient experience. Currently I am working to develop and implement an electronic scheduling system for the entirety of the health system. This position lends itself to mentoring and leading multiple committees (including CLABSi, NurseGrid, CodeBlue, Quality, and Lab). The Director of Critical Care services acts as the CORE Ambassador for St. Clair's campus, which involves coordinating Donate Life month, tracking and trending data for senior leadership, tracking and communicating data for various units on campus, and developing the death packet to increase donation efforts. House wide staffing, in addition to staffing crisis management, is within the purview of the director. The director is available at all times for staffing issues in the nursing division across the facility. Show less
