      Bioinformatician

      - led and managed the second phase of the Korean Genome Project (3 million dollar project) and supervised two bioinformaticians.- independently organized collaboration with Erez Lieberman Aiden and Olga Dudchenko at Baylor College of Medicine for the Korean Genome Project. - constructed chromsome-length scaffolds of the Korean human genome using single molecule real time sequencing from Pacific Biosciences, optical mapping from BioNano Genomics and high-throughput chromatin conformation capture sequencing.- designed and developed bioinformatics pipeline for assembly-based identification and characterization of structural variations that could not be detected with Illumina short reads.- identified and characterized non-repetitive and non-reference insertions unique to North East Asian population. PhD student

Project : Single molecule mutation detectionSupervisors: Peter Campbell and Richard DurbinI am developing methods to detect somatic mutations from normal tissues using CCS reads and genomic changes resulting from meiotic and mitotic recombination to understand mechanism that generates genetic diversity and loss of heterozygosity in gametes and somatic cells, respectively.
