During my stint at the Employee Relations Unit, I oversaw effective functions amongst employees, delivering sound advice to senior management on complex issues covering management, substandard performance, industrial relations, discipline and grievance, EO and bullying, rostering, and general staffing issues. The work entailed effectively assisting employees and senior management to facilitate change management and to resolve workplace disputes. Here, I carried out investigations involving suspected breaches of disciplines, in-house grievances. and EO complaints in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational policies and compiled detailed reports and fielded suggestions on human resource and industrial relations issues, including discipline, grievances, employee entitlements and other similar issues. I also coached and trained staff in areas pertinent to workplace success, including discipline, grievances, equal opportunities, industrial issues, and HR management. Furthermore, I proactively participated in the continuous improvement of the Employee Relations Unit through the review of policies and procedures to ensure continued best practice in the delivery of HR and Industrial relations services. Lastly, I analysed, operationalised and applied key legislation such as such as the Public Sector Management Act 1994, Industrial Relations Act 1979, Equal Opportunity Act 1984 and Awards and Agreements governing the employment conditions of WA Police Employees.
