I thoroughly enjoyed my years with the world's largest, federally funded, career training program for underserved youth ages 16-24. I held 3 Director roles for Job Corps, under contractors ResCare, EMC, Insights Training Group, LLC and Horizons Youth Services. In my role as Training Director, I managed all Career Training and general education, advanced training, counseling, career preparation, transition and placement and work-based learning. Training – Coaching –Team Building – Change Management -Helped guide BRJCC to become the #1 center in the U.S. for multiple years consecutively. Our philosophy, “if you take care of your students, the numbers take care of themselves” is one that I believe in still. Culture is everything. -We set the goal of being the #1 Center in the nation and we had been provided with a new training curriculum by the National Job Corps program. Change management was needed to implement the initiatives. We partnered with Pacific Institute and I was selected to become one of the initial 5 facilitators for Imagine 21. -Staff Training & Leadership: We trained the entire center in the I-21 program, which encouraged not only goal setting, but to start to picture their new lives through affirmations. -Being #1 was great, but perhaps the most rewarding thing to come from the training was that the entire center was involved. Line staff, who were sometimes not involved in such initiatives, were put at the forefront. It was stressed that each person must believe that their roles were the most important at the center. For example: “I don’t just clean – my shiny floors provide the peace of mind necessary for students to excel in their classes.” “I don’t just cook - I provide a joke and a smile in the cafeteria line that lifts their spirits and I provide nutrition to boost their brainpower". -Everyone was important and was cared for at all levels, staff and student. This team approach was awesome, and it worked! Show less

      Special Investigator

Conducted subject interviews with enlisted personnel for an intelligence contractor for the US Office of Personnel Management. Completed records searches (court, employment and financial) and interviewed neighbors of the subject which involved cold-knocking on doors as all work was done in person. Once all required information was collected, extensive detailed reports were ritten filed according to OPM standards.-Honored with “Field Investigator of the Month” (10/2017)

Assist the recruiting teams in the recruitment and hiring of international faculty and staff for the university. In addition, support current faculty and staff in managing long-term immigration statuses, which could include extensions, renewals, transfers or permanent resident processes. The global mobility manager serves as a shared resource and key partner for human resources staff, employees, external candidates, and immigration legal counsel by informing, advising, and supporting them by applying technical knowledge and interpreting policies and procedures as they relate to immigration matters. Serve as a resource for all new hires providing relocation assistance for any SCAD location. Employee Performance and Success ManagerBegan as only the immigration coordinator FT and then was promoted to EPSM with several client groups as an additional, concurrent role, once I earned the SHRM-CP. Although my primary focus and passion is immigration, the Human Resources experience is very complementary to it.Many of my HR functions are done in collaboration with institutional effectiveness, academic services, recruiting, compensation, benefits, legal and HR leadership.
