      The Upper One "ASCENT" program at Appleby College combines a unique opportunity to work in varied curriculums and educate students in grade 9. The ASCENT program is a ground-breaking program that replaces traditional examinations with 3 weeks of intensive arts, arts, service and cumulative evaluation. My role included:- Regularly teach at least two curriculum components in the program (leadership and team building). Other teaching components include canoe tripping skills such as paddling, portaging, food preparation and trip planning. - Lead students in a 5 day canoe trip.- Be actively involved in all program activities, leading and participating in evening recreational and instructional times as scheduled.- Assist with routine clean up and set up of program areas.- Perform direct supervision of students while involved with activities.- Facilitate groups utilizing adventure activities.
