  Indian Institute of Plantation Management, Bangalore (Promoted by Ministry of Industries and Commerce,Govt. of India) envisaged as a centre of excellence, to act as a think tank and an intellectual resource base for the plantation and associated agri-business sector.   Objectives of study include:(i) Understand the state policy on leasing of agricultural land(ii) Examine the pattern of land lease by some socio-economic class characters of lessor/lessee(iii) Analyse the influence of lease transactions upon the distributive aspect of land in the area(iv) Analyse whether the system of lease farming is less efficient than that of owner operated farms in terms of yields per acre and value of output per unit of input used; (v) Examine whether agricultural productivity varies under different terms of lease, such as fixed rent, share cropping etc.; (vi) Analyse whether the agricultural productivity and value of output is higher on lands managed by self-help groups/ contract farms as compare to individually managed farms Show less
