Research Project on Designing a Watershed Scorecard as a Performance Evaluation Tool for Ur River Watershed, Tikamgarh District, Madhya PradeshThe project aimed at evaluating the health of the watershed with the help of the indicators like surface water quality, groundwater quality, forest condition, agricultural condition and soil condition. These indicators were graded as per the national standards and guidelines which helped in designing of a watershed scorecard. The project has been successfully published as a research paper in one of the Elsevier Journals - International Soil and Water Conservation Research in October 2017. Show less

Project: Neeranchal National Watershed Project (NNWP), funded by World BankThe project is operational at basin level and watershed level in the selected 9 states of India. My role was focused in the development of four tools under this project:1) Carrying out meteorological drought vulnerability assessment at district level that helped in understanding and quantifying droughts. The assessment helps in detecting the probability of occurrence and anticipated severity of drought, in the selected districts.2) Monitoring, assessment and management of surface and groundwater resources. The assessment was done by developing WQI and using statistical analysis to describe the water quality status and trends.3) Developing watershed health indices using multiple indicators reflecting performance & sustainability. The assessment will provide help to the regulatory and legislative decision makers, planners and watershed stakeholders to understand the condition of our forests, groundwater, surface water, soil, and agriculture in the watershed and focus efforts where they are needed most.4) Carrying out environmental & socio-economic vulnerability assessment due to climate change using framework proposed by IPCC. The assessment helps in identifying the water challenged areas and utilise the findings in suggesting effective water resources planning framework Show less Project 1: IWRM based development plan for water security in four districts of Bundelkhand region in India, funded by the Ministry of Water Resources, RD & GR, Government of IndiaProject 2: Integrating Hydrology, Climate Change and IWRM with Livelihood Issues: Development of Methodology and a DSS for Water-Scarce Bundelkhand Region in India, funded by Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council. My role was to carry out in-depth analysis of livelihood vulnerability of agricultural households due to climate change at block level and watershed level in the Bundelkhand Region of India. The assessment was done using the composite weighted approach proposed by Hahn, et al., 2009 and the IPCC framework. The findings from the study were utilized in the development of effective IWRM plan catering to water, land and livelihood management.PublicationsGoyal, V. C., Patil, J.
