The Murphy Lab focuses on genetic variants of p53 that exist in African American populations. Therefore, our work has direct relevance for improving the cancer prognosis and therapy of African Americans. The lab also studies the cancer-survival protein HSP70 and employs a novel series of HSP70 inhibitors for melanoma and colorectal cancer therapy.Skills: cell splitting, protein concentration, Western Blot, DNA gel electrophoresis, mouse dissection/harvesting of organs Show less

    • Stanford Center for Cognitive and Neurobiological Imaging (CNI)

      Dec 2015 - Jun 2018
      Research Assistant

RA for Stanford Memory Laboratory--the Wagner Lab Research assistant for a 5-year study using fMRI imaging to test the hypothesis that episodic memory decline in healthy older adults is predicted by dysfunction of these hippocampal mechanisms, which relates in part to focal structural change and evidence of preclinical AD pathology. Meets and works with participants of the study prior to scanning of the brain. Assists in operating the 3T MRI scanner for each participant during the memory test and in analyzing behavioral data.***As of October 2016, has started to operate 7T scanner to gather more robust anatomical data. Research assistant for a new project using cutting-edge neural decoding algorithms to see if memories can “replay” like a film while participants are recalling memories from navigating a virtual environment. Collected pilot data. Project will begin spring 2017. ***Project placed on hold as we focused on larger longitudinal aging project. Completed an honors thesis investigating the relationship between total hippocampal volume and associative memory in healthy aging adults that was presented at a department-wide symposium May 2018. CHARIOT Program-Childhood Anxiety Reduction through Innovation and TechnologyThe CHARIOT team at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford knows that undergoing surgery, anesthesia and procedures can be especially stressful for children. The goal of the program is to implement new technologies in the hospital that are nontraditional yet familiar to children in an effort to engage and distract them during these times. The focus is on taking existing technologies and creating new ones to address the unique needs of individual patients. The Stanford environment offers a unique opportunity to create a team of physicians, engineers, researchers and child life professionals. The team is currently piloting virtual reality experiences, new tablet-based apps and interactive bedside projector-based games.Check out the link below for more information and the document below for a list of my presented abstracts and posters and pending publications. • Stanford University School of Medicine

      Feb 2018 - May 2020
Clinical Research Assistant in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Clinical research assistant with the Koegel Autism Project at Stanford Medicine. Works with Dr. Lynn Koegel, the developer of Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), a clinician at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, and a clinical professor at Stanford University School of Medicine.PRT is a highly acclaimed research-based intervention for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). PRT is a naturalistic intervention model derived from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). PRT targets pivotal areas of a child's development, such as motivation, responsivity to multiple cues, self-management, and social initiations. These skills are pivotal because they are the foundational behaviors upon which learners with ASD can make widespread and generalized improvements in many other areas. By targeting these critical behaviors, PRT results in widespread, collateral improvements in communication, social, and behavioral domains. Show less
